BMW Sailing Cup for World Childhood

08.10.2010

Today I am sailing at the BMW ProAm Sailing Cup Regatta for the World Childhood Foundation which was founded by Queen Silvia of Sweden to support the rights of children worldwide. Since BMW is not only a dedicated supporter of sailing or charity events but also of the Munich bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter games 2018 it is a wonderful opportunity for me to take part. Enthusiastically I throw myself into the task and get out slightly damaged. Twice the mainsail hits me in the head, my left foot gets stuck under one of the rolls, a strong elbow rams into my hip and at long last I burn my left hand letting the rope slip. But it was all worth it. Although our team ends up last it receives the most points and raises the biggest amount of money for the foundation :-)

And sailing? I will certainly do it again...
