My Birthday in Munich

03.12.2010

Birthday does not always mean just party. Today for me it means to get up at 5 AM. A first sleepy 'facebook-check' surprises me with a lovely birthday video made by friends, family and fans. Happily I then rush to the airport, fly to Munich and throw myself into various Munich-2018 meetings.

In the evening Horst Seehofer, prime minister of Bavaria, hosts an official reception for the many representatives of the German Olympic Sports Confederation. Here I am very warmly greeted with a birthday serenade and a birthday cake which is handed to me by Mr. Seehofer and Dr. Thomas Bach.

But the best is still to come. At 22:30, a little tired but happy, I finally arrive at the hotel to celebrate my birthday with family and closest friends :-)
